This workshop teaches students how to easily get their portfolio on the internet. Students will learn how to build, structure and manage their own professional website using free portfolio building sites available to them online. Then each student will learn how to take good photos of their work, how to re-size them, and finally, how to upload them onto their new websites. They will be equipped with the tools and templates for how to create the typical items expected of a professional artist’s website, including artist statement, bio, resume, gallery, and contact information.
2.) “Building Your Online Presence as an Artist”: Tools for getting noticed by the online community.

This workshop explains the importance of creating and maintaining an online presence in order to market your art. The workshop offers basic social networking marketing schemes for facebook and twitter. Students will be taught the importance of blogging towards building and maintaining your audience as well as some basic search engine optimization techniques. Students will leave knowing how to use the internet as a resource to find and create opportunities to show their work in the online community as well as in the non-cyber world.

This is an informal open studio class for artists of any age and at any skill level, from beginner to advanced. Each class offers students 2 hours to work on individual projects with intermittent one-on-one guidance from the instructor, including tips on technique, composition and value. Students may work at their own pace, select their own projects, and can work in the medium of their choosing, including oil painting, acrylic painting, pencil, charcoal, colored pencil, or pastel. Students are welcome to start new projects in class or they can bring works in progress.
Please note students are responsible for purchasing and bringing their own supplies and if applicable, only non-toxic turpenoid is permitted (no turpentine or mineral spirits). This is an ongoing class, $15 per person, per class.

“Build Your Artist Website”: A hands-on class for building your very own website!
Portside Arts Center, Philadelphia: $80 for four weeks. Call Portside (215) 427-1514 to register; Class will be scheduled once enrollment is met.
Students will leave this 4-week class having built their own free artist’s website. In week 1, students will compile all the typical written components expected of a professional artist’s website, including artist statement, biography and resume. In week 2, they will learn how to photograph their work and how to re-size and edit their images for the web. After completing their out-of-class homework assignments, students will be ready to create their free websites in weeks 3 and 4.
Each student will be assigned one of Portside’s state of the art computers for use during each class period.The first hour of each class is dedicated to a powerpoint presentation, while the remaining time is spent answering any questions one-on-one. During this time, students work independently until it is their turn for me to answer their questions.
